This book helps us to maximise our use of the increased availability of fresh fruit and veg. It is full of fabulous vegetarian meal ideas, although you will find these alongside meat and fish dishes, too.
Pumpkin puree, Johnny cakes and deep-fried parsnips are all typical offerings from these pages and not really for those on a diet but for an exciting and indulgent treat there is much to recommend. There are healthier recipes aswell, especially in the salad section.
Many of the meat and fish recipes can be utilised as in the case of 'deep fried squid in curry batter' as both elements of the dish are presented separately.
This book is easy to follow even though only a few of the recipes are accompanied by photographs as its simplicity accounts for much of its success.
